The audio files used here are Windows Media Player files.
The files are streamed over the internet through Windows Media Player and loaded as they are being played.  As a result, sometimes the files will stop and start the first time they are played, especially if your computer has a dail-up connection.

If you encounter this problem with the audio files, wait for a minute until the audio file has had sufficient time to load.   Then click on the "play" button again.  The file will play without stopping once it has been loaded; the loading speed will depend on the speed of your Internet connection.

And remember, when the timer reaches 0, the test will not stop.
You can listen to the audio files as many times as you wish and take as much time as you need.

Here is some information about the IELTS Listening test you might find helpful:

The Listening Test of the IELTS exam has four sections (1-4).  Sections 1 and 2 of the Listening Test require you to listen to conversations which you may encounter in personal situations, like finding a place to live, having a phone conversation or getting directions.  Sections 3 and 4 are conversations or lectures which you may be faced with in academic situations, like in university classes or meetings.  The test audio tapes are around 30 minutes long (with an additional 10 minutes to fill in your answer sheets), and have around 40 questions.

The Listening Test is scored in half bands, from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest).

TheEnglishLink.com provides you with practice Listening tests similar to the IELTS tests.  Each test section is labeled Section 1, Section 2, Section 3 or Section 4, and the audio tapes and question types are modeled on actual IELTS questions.  As you listen to the audio clips, you can follow along with the interactive questions and click on the answers you think are correct.  When you are finished taking the test section, you can Save your answers and instantly view your results, which are automatically scored.  Get Windows Media Player Please download
