Some information about IELTS Reading tests that you might find helpful:

The Reading section of the academic IELTS examination is divided into 3 sections.  Each of those sections includes an academic article followed by a list of questions.  You have 20 minutes to take each section, with a total of 60 minutes for the complete Reading test.  The Reading Test is scored in half bands from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest).

On TheEnglishLink.com, we provide articles on topics used in the IELTS examinations.  Each article is followed by 13 or 14 questions about the article.  The question types are based on IELTS question types, and we explain the different questions you will face when taking the IELTS exam.  We provide useful tips on how to master the Reading section of the IELTS examination.

The tests on TheEnglishLink.com are not easy - that is because the IELTS examination is very difficult, and we want to provide you with resources that effectively prepare you for the exam.

For Reading tests on TheEnglishLink.com:

Each Reading test section indicates whether it is Section 1, 2 or 3:
  • Section One Test Sections always have 14 questions (1-14)
  • Section Two Test Sections always have 13 questions (15-27)
  • Section Three Test Sections always have 13 questions (28-40)

This way, when you are choosing which test sections to take, you can put together a full test by choosing one of each.  Then, using the score interpreter, you can compare your results with an IELTS score.
